In September, Armstrong provided a first look at Armstrong Academy, our new training resource for agent partners and employees. We are excited to debut the first level of the agent partner program this Monday, October 18th!

Armstrong Academy offers face-to-face classroom training and live virtual training, as well as on-demand webinars and eLearning modules. The courses also feature discussion forums, allowing participants to collaborate and learn from each other. Viewers will have the opportunity to post questions, which will be answered by the subject matter experts who helped put together the content.

Agent training modules will continue to be released through the first quarter of 2022. From onboarding and Excel to management and sales training, Armstrong Academy will have something for everyone.

This post will explore the road to launching Armstrong Academy and the benefits for new hires, agent owners, subagents, and corporate employees.

Training Program for Freight Agents

When an experienced agent partners with a new agent program a seamless transition is imperative to their success. Armstrong prides itself on our easy-to-use proprietary transportation management system that helps agents get their businesses up and running in a matter of hours. Agent partners also get direct access to our Agent Success Managers who are dedicated to providing one-on-one training.

Armstrong Academy extends this level of service by offering a more robust training platform and the opportunity for agents to train at their convenience. The three-level agent partner program within Armstrong Academy is designed to help agents become familiar with Armstrong's processes and to assist agent owner’s with growing their business.

Level One, referred to as “QuickStart,” rolls out on October 18th. Tailored to experienced agency owners new to Armstrong, this 14-module training program offers courses on our proprietary TMS (ATGFr8), customer creation, carrier entry, billing, and settlement procedures.

Level Two, “Road to Success,” will be released on January 26th. It dives deeper into more advanced processes, utilizing ATGFr8, and how to use Armstrong's services as resources. This 25-module program focuses on load tracking, IT security, customer prospecting, building duplicate loads, LTL, customer contracts, advanced accounting processes, carrier relations, claims procedures, and advanced software platform training.

The third level, “Elite Performance,” is scheduled to launch on February 14th, 2022. It offers agent owners access to business and leadership development courses designed to help maximize agency performance and profitability. Created by industry leaders, the Elite Performance curriculum focuses on leveraging SMART goals and driving employee performance through enhanced coaching, mentoring, and excellent customer service. Agent partners also learn carrier negotiation skills, creating annual bids, and implementing proven customer acquisition strategies.

What Armstrong Academy Offers Employees

The employee-focused training is segmented by department, with a curriculum specific to each department.  The coursework will feature information on onboarding (Armstrong's mission, core values, corporate policy, procedures, benefits, and an overview of Armstrong's technology), job training specific to individual roles, personal development, and leadership training.

The Resources Behind Armstrong Academy

Our subject matter experts are our biggest differentiator. This extensive network of logistics experts has been essential in generating quality content that's proven to work. Additionally, the executive team's support and cooperation were instrumental in Armstrong Academy's creation.

"We're excited to see Armstrong Academy launch! This months-in-the-making idea is becoming a reality. For the first time, we have consolidated resources that empower our agents and employees to succeed. It's a big step in our commitment to providing value for the people who make our company successful," says Brian Mann, president and CEO of Armstrong Transport Group.

The executive team also invested in an in-house studio with professional lighting, multiple cameras, and audio equipment, allowing us to create the content in-house. Additionally, we utilize premium software, including Adobe Captivate, Audition, Adobe Premiere, InDesign, and Photoshop.

Grow With Us!

Armstrong strives to place service and technological innovation at the center of logistics, and neither comes without continuing education. Having a centralized training platform with resources for success is part of our mission to provide the highest levels of service and support.
